about
My wife, Heather, and I recently completed the long international adoption process. We spent the last two years anxiously awaiting the call that we could go and get our son, Arthur, in Ethiopia.
To tell you that the months leading up to that call were difficult cannot even begin to describe the way we felt.
Every time we would be expecting good news, we received bad news that guaranteed more waiting.
This song was written in the midst of that journey.
I sat down to write a song for my son, who was all the way across the globe. I wanted to write him a lullaby, even though I knew he wouldn't hear it until he was home. I wanted him to know, somehow, that I would do everything in my power to fight for him.
Then, as I wrote, this song became a promise not only for Arthur, it was for Heather, too.
My family.
Arthur is home now and our lives have changed forever.
I sing this song to him often and the promise still rings true.
